To get an email informing me that one of my posts was deleted on grounds of what they call copyright infringement. It’s been two years since I shared a song I legally downloaded and owned off my computer on my blog. I am now being told that this counts as copyright infringement, even though I wasn’t distributing the song nor claiming it as my own, I don’t make money off my blog and I hardly published it as an editorial piece.
My blog is a personal one, where I only share the things I like and feel and think about. How many songs have I shared from my personal music library over the past four years and I am just now being notified that this is not allowed? And what, maybe 2 or 3 people even liked or reblogged or saw each one?
I’m now left with the debate of, do I try and go back and delete each one or do I risk tumblr shutting down my little blog over sharing songs in a way that had no effect on the copyright owners?
The whole internet is made up of people sharing the things they love and enjoy, as long as I’m not selling it, letting it be downloaded from me or passing it off as my own, how is it I’m the one who gets reprimanded when they should be going after the people who do steal music and/ or sell it?
