An anthropologist proposed a game to the children of an African tribe. He put a basket of fruit near a tree and told them that whoever came first would win all the fruit. When given the signal to run, the children held hands and ran, sitting down together to enjoy the prize.
When asked why they had run together, if only one could get all the fruit, they said, UBUNTU, how could one of us be happy if everyone else is sad?

Personal Canon: “How Crayons Are Made”
On Episode 8 of the 11th season of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Mister Rogers showed us a film that has always stuck with me—and which has stuck with many of you, too—about how crayons are made. Mister Rogers’ show was always so calm and informative and direct that it pulled you right into it, and that power has not lessened decades later. This segment has, for whatever reason, fascinated many of us ever since we first saw it. I have never been in a conversation about Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood where this segment didn’t get brought up in the first five minutes.
You can watch the six minute segment here on PBS.com.

I absolutely remember watching this when it aired… It’s stuck with me ever since, too…

They just don’t make children’s shows like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood anymore.

One day I’ll find that man who loves that my sense of humor is dry and dirty, quirky, backwards and dumb. That man who loves that I cry over the books I read and loves to watch me dance and sing when my music is on. That man who loves me for being me, no matter how lame or nerdy I can be.

At least I hope I do. Hope he exists. And hope it doesn’t take much longer to find that man.

World of Color is smaller than I thought it’d be…. ha-ha this music/ light water show fountain must be new because I don’t remember it from when we last went to Disneyland. Which we FINALLY made it! Yesterday was insanely long, I had to wake up at 2am after only an hour of sleep to get ready for our flight but we made it down here, took a nap and then headed to Disneyland at 5pm went on a couple rides, saw the fireworks and Fantasmic! and it was a great way to end the day. Guess I was emotional cuz I wanted to cry through both shows ha-ha. They were beautiful and I’m so glad I finally got to see them! Can’t wait for tomorrow and more Disneyland!
